She lies to save a mother even after the so called hero just told her he had to pay that mother of hers to take her back. I mean I get she has a good heart & doesn't wish any harm on her but to put yourself on a limb to save her from what she brought upon herself is just plain stupid. Than the H treats her like a disposable wipe telling her over & over again up until 80% of the book that he only wants sex and does not want her to get the wrong idea like she did 5 yrs ago & fall in love with him. Because she was not good enough for him then and is not any more worthy of him now. Tells her not to get her hopes up with holding him back with a baby cause its just not going to happen divorce is unavoidable. The h still wants to have his kid and has a breakdown when she feels she might not be pregos. Top it all off & I just couldn't read any further, the H tells the h that if she hadn't caught him with that other girl that day 5 yrs ago he definitely would have slept with her no regrets.I get that he didn't want to have sex with her since she was only 16yrs old!!! But than he's rich why Marry her ? & not just offer het his financial support & stay away from her without the bond of matrimony. The excuse of wanting to save her from her family's wrath was a weak excuse. If he was really worried about her he did not have to marry her and keep giving her hopes instead of feeding her infatuation with him. I think it disturbing that he actually married her and kept her tied to him until she grew up for he's personal use. Just nothing heroic about him.I have read just about all of Ms.Grahams books and have liked if not loved all of them. But I just could not stomache this one.

By Glaidene's reads This book tells the story of a girl who fell in love with a young man while still a teenager and married him when she was 16. He chose not to have an intimate relation ship with her at the time. She caught him in a comprimising position and the story gets better from there. Lynne Graham is one of my favorite authors so her books are special to me.

Was in the mood for angst and this satisfied By Vanessa Frankie and Santino were forced to marry because of possible damage to her reputation and the fact that her paternal grandfather believed in the old ways. The story opens showing that her mother and Frankie don't seem very close and Frankie knows this. Frankie manages to get reeled back into Santino's orbit due to a work related incident. Santino, you know he orchestrated that, takes advantage and tells her that if she wishes to save her mother from possible jail time she will give him the wedding night he never had. Seems that Santino didn't bed his 16 year old forced bride, but instead got caught in an clinch w/ a family friend OW - caught by Frankie I might add!He apparently has discovered some interesting things while Frankie was out of commission and he believes that she has lied to him, so let the blackmailing begin! Santino doesn't like liars - need to make that clear here. I could NOT understand why this guy didn't know more than he did, and why he couldn't have fleshed out the truth better since he is a great businessman. But alas he doesn't!Santino knew things about her mother and he covered that up (lied) and I wondered why Frankie protected mommy dearest? He even lied about prosecuting her mother and he does it several times. However, he continues to accuse Frankie of lying and in one instance she possibly did because she didn't tell him of her innocence - but really he wouldn't have believed her anyway. Then he finds out the truth and says she deserved the pain - POW. Santino is telling her what he won't be (ruled by passion) and what he doesn't like (liars), yet he is exactly that and he does do what he doesn't like.I can't grasp the concept that Santino has been estranged from his mother for years and then it's all happy because Frankie's defense of him. Oh and how could she not possibly know of his family? If they are so big there would have been mention of them in some papers at some time. Also Santino seemed to want to make an issue about the age gap for a bit, but that just felt wrong because it didn't bother him when he was thinking about other things. They seem to be getting along then she starts acting childish and tells him to go. Suddenly he is away and on a business conference - wouldn't he have known about that before? Couldn't he have mentioned it before just going like that? He returns w/ the OW that she had caught him w/ before. Frankie thinks at one point near the end that she couldn't imagine Santino becoming intimate w/ that type of woman - yet by his own admission it was headed exactly there! Frankie calls him on one of his lies and the excuses begin. This OW became convenient in the story and it didn't make a lot of sense. I'm not sure how this OW deserved better as she KNEW he was married when she was tossing herself around. Her presence on the plane seems too convenient as well. He allowed her to go on believing that he had been unfaithful as she allowed him to believe that she wasn't a virgin and not once thinks to say YOU LIED Santino and YOU deserve what you get?! But he was such a man vocalizing things that he wished he was or was not and then showing by actions the opposite.
