About the Author A perfumer and pilot, Marie Le Febvre began to explore her family’s exciting past in 2010. She continues to delve into history, particularly how it relates to peace and freedom in the world today. In 2014 Marie moved with her husband, Sascha, and their son, Carl, from Paris to Berlin, where they fulfilled their dream of opening a perfume laboratory and launching their own “Urban Scents” brand of fragrances. Her journey into her family’s past influences her work as she sources ingredients that help provide income for people impacted by economic and political unrest. She’s currently developing “Utopia,” a scent that blends materials from around the world, including elements from countries at odds with one another. This fragrance is her personal expression of peace.

By Airplane Driver A wonderful story about the brave men and women that stood up to the Nazi occupation of France during WWII. These people risked everything to help downed allied airmen avoid capture and their stories need to be told.I particularly enjoyed the unique connection of past and present…family of today learning of the deeds of their parents and grandparents. It is too easy to forget the strengths of our roots and the accomplishments and sacrifices of our forbearers. This book works to bridge that gap and reminds us all to look to the past to understand more of ourselves today.Well crafted, pleasant to read.

By Bev A very good account of what it was like to be living in occupied territory during WWII. The author provides lots of context, both of the times during and after the war, to make the story more meaningful. Many French citizens risked everything to resist the German occupation and to aid downed allied airmen. The author takes the reader along on her own journey of discovery regarding her grandparents activities during WWII. That the story has meaning for three generations of families on both sides of the Atlantic is a testament to the power of the tale.
