Bosarge If your're a fan of the Godzilla foe, Biollante, you need to buy this book !!!! The story is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, where the surviving humans live in fear of the kaiju returning one day, to destroy them ! Hiroshi, an elder psychic, even prays to Godzilla: asking him to never return. However, one day Hiroshi's grandson goes on a scouting mission to find items that their camp could find use for. Both the grandson and his girlfriend areattacked by a swarm of KAMACURAS !!! The Kamacuras swarm is soon repelled by the plant monster, BIOLLANTE ! But, before the two can celebrate their survival, GODZILLA shows up and engages in an awesome battle with BIOLLANTE. Godzilla destroys Biollante, but the girlfriend manages to save a fragment of the creature to take back with her to camp. At camp, the fragment grows into a beautiful rose that attracts the attention of Hiroshi. Meanwhile, the other village elders decide that the only way to keep the kaiju away from their camp is to sacrifice their youngones again. Hiroshi protests against this, and both he, his grandson and his grandson's girlfriend decide they should move the Biollante rose awayfrom the camp, before more giant monsters arrive, to try to destroy it. A big swarm of MEGAGUIRUS arrives on the scene to attack the camp, butMOTHRA immediately shows up to stop any harm from coming to the humans. Godzilla then appears by the camp, and he engages in an awesomebattle with Mothra. But, before I give too much else away,I think you should know that this story really nails it ! And Toho would be wise to turn this one and GODZILLA: GANGSTERS AND GOLIATHS into feature films. The artwork is superb. The story is easy to follow. And, if you like Biollante, you'll enjoy this one.

I Really Liked It By Bengirlxd *I received this book for review from the publisher for review and want to emphasize that all opinions on this review were made solely by me and not influenced in any waySo I requested this book from the publisher because I am an avid reader of graphic novels and the cover and title seemed interesting to me. I am not a big follower of the Godzilla franchise but I was interesested to find out how this graphic novel would fare with all the others out there. Did it appeal to me in the end? Let's find out._________ARTWORK: The artwork in this novel was pleasantly well done. There is a high use of dark tones and yellows used but that is used because of the dystopian wasteland atmosphere. I think the story and the artwork went hand in hand together creating a really good balance between the two. Characters were detailed and looked pretty good and I loved the attention to detail on the landscapes and especially the monsters. Overall it was nice to look at and did I mention every single page is in color? The hundred page book is all in full color awesomeness. I applaud the illustrator and author for this and selling the book at an affordable price as well. This just shows that they care about their content and are not writing this not just because they want to cash in.___________STORY: (I am only covering the first few pages to not give away spoilers) The story consists of a dystopia created after the monsters of the Godzilla franchise practically destroyed alll cities and practically wiped out almost all of humanity. Those who survived live primaly together similar to The Walking Dead style. The story centers around a Granfather, his grandson Arata, and the Arata's friend Shiori. It has been twenty years since the "Cataclysm" happened and the community of people have created scouting groups to find resources around the rubble. The Grandfather feels guilty everyday because he feels that he was a crucial actor in the Cataclysm because he was one of a group of people that tried to control the monsters and he believes that Godzilla is trying to wipe out humanity because he is angry againsst what he did.Meanwhile Arata and Shiori join the scouting group and they discover that the monster Biollante who controls plant life on earth is growing. Godzilla reamerges after twenty years and nearly destroys Biollante but a fragment of him remains. Arata and Shiori decides to run back to the village and inform them of what happened but Shiori decides to take something with him which will set the story for the rest of the novel and possibly the series to come...__________ANALYSIS: The plot is very well done and was a joy to read. I am excited to read the forthcoming books to see what will happen in the future of the series. It covers a lot of topics from mythology and religion to humanity's desire to control things in nature and the consequences of it. I found the reading to be enjoyable and very engaging and though it take more of a serious tone, it is stellar. I am not a Godzilla fan and I extremely enjoyed this reading. I encourage other graphic novel readers to take this on because it is a worthwhile experience so far.

Perhaps the monsters are wandering about in other parts of the planet. Perhaps they will return. In the meantime, scavengers search for porn and other necessities that may have survived the war with the monsters. Of course, the scavengers who star in the story encounter monsters. Saw that coming, didn't you?The villagers pray to the monsters, believing them to be gods. Even the nonbelieving narrator prays to Godzilla but his prayers are asking Godzilla to stay away. Such prayers are never answered. The old man knows why Godzilla is so cheesed off and holds himself responsible but wishes Godzilla would just get over it. It seems that Godzilla carries a grudge. The old man might be partially responsible for the cataclysm in a farfetched way but wants a chance at redemption. Therein lies the plot. But plot be damned. This is a Godzilla story and we all know that plots just get in the way of monsters fighting each other. The human characters have little to do but watch. Godzilla breathes death rays and Mothra puts on a laser show and all the monster bugs, well you know how annoying they are. Godzilla wants to destroy a plant which is itself a monster for reasons that have something to do with making sure the Earth is not replenished with plants that shriek. Like that would be a good thing? Mothra is protecting the carnivorous plant, leading to the Godzilla v. Mothra Smackdown.Quite a bit of the story consists of the old man's guilt trip, which is recounted in abundant and redundant detail. The story is a little hokey, a little simple-minded, but it does have some pathos and I liked the Monster Bash artwork. I'm on the fence about the rating but I liked Godzilla Cataclysm overall, and in Amazon's rating system that means it gets 4 stars. Consider it a weak 4 stars.
