Back before writers started including adult situations and language? I don't have a problem with adult situations and language, and there are some very well done comics being published for mature readers. But superheroes? Too many of today's writers of superhero comics have lost sight of who their target audience has traditionally been. Superheroes used to be a gateway for young readers to be introduced to the world of comics. I grew up reading comics, but to be honest, I wouldn't let my children read most of what is being published today. I would let them read this, though. What Matt Fraction, Mike Allred and Mark Bagley (and associates) have created here is a story to be enjoyed by readers of all ages. There is still a serious storyline to follow, but there is also a light hearted feel to much of it, especially the FF chapters. It is not a childish story, it is a well written story, and it shows that comics can still be written for both children and adults to enjoy. If there is a weak point, it's the Age of Ultron cross-over chapter, a tie-in clearly mandated by Marvel's editorial staff, which is presented at the very end of the book and can easily be skipped. I have read this entire book and so has my nine year old son and we both loved it. The main reason? Something not found in comics very often anymore: fun. Remember when comics used to be fun?

I'm a fan of Fantastic Four and Mike Allred's art, so when I heard about the new FF series drawn by him, I decided to pick up the first couple issues, but I never caught up on it. I then saw this a couple of months ago, and decided to save up some money to add this to my Fantastic Four collection. I enjoyed but the Fantastic Four and the FF parts (The FF stuff was better) But some of the stuff was dull, irritating, or just plain annoying, like Val near the end of the story who was really whiny, and Ant-Man just beating up Doom, simply because (though I thought the actual reason was admittedly cool), and some other stuff. But over all I enjoyed it, but I see why people don't.

I think it is objectively bad.The physical presentation of this is fine. For what merits the story may have, they serve it well in the ordering of the two series FF and Fanstastic Four. It's just not worth reading, though.I had a consecutive run of several hundred issues of Fantastic Four when Matt Fraction started writing and I disliked the change so much I just stopped buying Fantastic Four. I thought it would be worth the gamble that the whole run would be better in whole than in single issues. Gamble lost.
