By Book Spots and Thoughts Casey Clipper's third installment of the Love Series does not disappoint. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this story had a different spin to the traditional HEA story, which was perfect, considering Derk, the main character in this story, is anything but traditional.Derk Forester is dark, he's dangerous and he's definitely not the kind of guy that Mackenzie wants or needs in her already complicated life. Fresh off a bad divorce which left her with absolutely nothing, all she wants is to earn enough money to start a new life for herself. But one aggressively stolen kiss from Derk spins her life in a completely different direction. He works for the mob. He loves them and leaves them. He doesn't look back. He takes what he wants. And he wants Mackenzie. Only problem is, Mackenzie isn't betting on Derk to give her what she needs. Mackenzie isn't willing to put her heart on the line again for someone she knows is everything his reputation has earned him. During Derk's chase for Mackenzie, some of our favorite characters from Silent Love and Unexpected Love are blended into the story, giving us an update of how their lives have progressed as well. An unconventional love story, with a non-traditional ending is what makes this a uniquely enjoyable read.

Everyone from the first 2 books is back in Book 3 but the story focuses on Derk Forester, Derrick Murphy's henchman.Mackenzie grew up in foster care and never knew what love was. She married the first man to show an interest in her. Trouble was, he didn't really love her. In the divorce he got everything leaving Mackenzie with nothing. She is determined to get her life in order and to find love.When Derk sees Mackenzie, he wants her in his bed. No commitment, just sex until he has had enough and moves on. Problem is, Mackenzie won't settle for that. Derk comes on too crude, too bossy, and too arrogant-- typical Derk behavior. He realizes he needs to back off and start over with a different approach. Derk spends time with Mac and she gets under his skin. He begins to realize he wants Mac in his future. Mac isn't so sure she wants Derk in her life once she finds out what he does for a living. Derk sets out to change her mind.Once again, Casey Clipper has written an excellent book. She brings her characters to life as fully developed individuals-- warts and all. There were times I wanted to wring Derk's neck and slap him silly for being such a Neanderthal. Other times, I was touched by how he cared for Mac. How he wanted to prove to her how wonderful she was. How he wanted to bring her into the Murphy family so she could learn what it was like to have people who really cared for her and had her back. I liked Mac because she wasn't jealous of Derk's relationships with Courtney and Beth. She was secure in herself and in his feelings for her.Personally, I would have never thought I would care for people in the mob. Especially one with Derk's "talents". In Casey's hands, these characters are likeable. That speaks volumes about her talent.I've read all 3 books in this series. I loved all of them. I am impatiently awaiting Book 4! I highly recommend the entire Love Series to anyone wanting to read a terrific, highly entertaining story. Derrick Murphy insists on it!

By Leeann Wright Meet Derk Forester.. he is the ultimate bad boy.He lives hard and he plays hard. Break them in and move along is his motto. The more innocent the more he enjoys it.Mackenzie Hiland is at rock bottom. She has just divorced her cheating husband and walked away with nothing more than the clothes on her back.Their first meeting is like nothing Mackenzie has ever experienced and it sets the tone for their relationship.Derk is upfront with Mackenzie about everything except his job. When she finds out they face a huge hurdle. She needs to decide if she can live with it and he needs to decide if he can let her go.I have loved all the books in The Love Series but this is possibly my favourite so far. It is always exciting to Read about bad boys being brought to their knees.Casey Clipper has done a fabulous job bringing Derk and Mackenzie to life. The characters growth from the start of the story to the end is very easy to follow. I also love that all of the previous characters from the series are included In Derk and Mackenzies story as they are such a big part of Derk's life.Both Mackenzie and Derk are easy characters to like and empathize with. They face hurdles on their path to happy ever after, they have to work for it like any other couple in the world. This was an easy book to get lost in. I read it in one day as I was absolutely captivated by Derk and Mackenzie and their story.Love, love, loved it!
