Her complex storyline, there is the underlying love By Karen's Book Haven This is so much more than a second chance love story. This is a second chance at life story!Yet another strong and feminine character joins the ranks of McHeyzer’s finery. Holly is going for this job to keep her mind occupied so she doesn’t drown in the depths of widowhood. She doesn’t lose any of her spark when Pierre comes along, if anything, she becomes stronger.Pierre, he’s a tough one to take. He’s rude, he’s crude but he’s barely hanging onto life by a thread. He can’t feel anything. His trust in life has been abolished when he too became a widow. Maybe that’s why he’s so volatile – it’s the only way he can feel that he’s alive. They are like two flints and sparks fly when they are near each other. The tension throughout this story does not stop. Pierre is unbelievably rude but that’s obviously his coping mechanism. I love the banter and dialogue between Holly and Pierre. They truly are equals and have a deep respect for each other as their time is spent together. It’s a joy to read how they both learn to live again and the sex scenes are off the charts hot! The innocence of Holly’s daughter Emma is a delight. I love that she has no censorship and no filter. I’m with Pierre, fell in love with her too. With every piece of Margaret’s work I read, I love her style more and more. Her complex storyline, there is the underlying love triangle. Pierre’s former wife has a big play within this book. Her part is beautifully written. I love the subtly she writes throughout her books where she references her other works. Always gives me a giggle.McHeyzer has only entered my reading realm about three months ago and she’s an automatic buy now. This book did not disappoint. I hope you are as aghast with the ending as I was.

Her writing just gets better and better with each book and dare I say that she's outdone even herself with Monster Chef? This book is perfection. It has love, heartbreak, sex, humor and a precocious 7 year old girl. Honestly, you'll fall in love with the three main characters of this book. Pierre, with his ingrained French arrogance and his way around a deconstructed lemon meringue pie and Holly with her sassiness and refusal to back down. And absolutely Emma with her sweet, sweet childish disposition - for me she stole the show! The book had me laughing at times and left me with a lump in my throat at others. I felt so many emotions while reading Monster Chef and I just love that it had the ability to elicit so much from me. I don't hesitate to recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. one of my fav reads of 2015 By Claire Wow where to to start i was graciously given an arc of this book and it was a beautiful read . Pierre may be an arse (monster chief) but he is passionate and sensual and damn that mans got skills *total 9 1/2 weeks moment * ok sorry got off track there.....fans ones self mmmm pierre......yes pierre is also defensive and proud but he is also grieving and in pain when he and holly meet even though there pissed at each other the chemistry flys off the pages . Holly is a strong single mom and whilst dealing with the grief of loosing her husband refuses to be bossed around by the French chief with the big ego lol .she has the most amazing little girl who will have you smiling with her little pearls of wisdom she is brilliant. Its the greif that connects them but to read how they deal with it together and learn to be together is truly lovely too see that love can really happen again this book will pull at your heart strings make you smile maybe shed a tear but most of all it will touch you and make you want to hold those you love closer not many books can say thatThis is one of Margaret's best work i have all of her books an whilst the other are darker which i love this is different but just as amazing i think this lady could write the telephone book and id read lol and the best thing in this book its a real woman a 35yr old woman not some virginal 24yr old co-ed thank god so good a mahoosive 5* read a must read of 2015 well done Margaret you have done it again :)
