Amazing Thought-Provoking Story for All Ages By Jayzoo33 Flynn’s Log 4 continues this incredible series of books by adding increased depth to the characters who are dealing with a world digital crisis and exploring ideas about the virtual world and the physical world. I was amazed at the way this book challenges the reader to question what is real, and it’s done in a way to intrigue both young and mature readers. The characters that we’ve grown to know are now faced with more issues that affect the real 21st-century world. While the book is written for younger readers, there is amazing thought, intensity, and sensitivity that the author brings to the written page. The new images that accompany this book are outstanding artwork and help give visualization to the ideas, concepts, and characters. This is an excellent book, in my opinion. It is well-written, tells a good story, has memorable characters, and provides thoughts and ideas that stimulate the reader’s mind.

Nothing about the main character By Terry Leong I had been waiting a very long time for this book and it finally is released, but there isn't anything about Flynn, the main character. Or is that because the main character now Elle? This book is in the real world now, and the first part really is kinda scary. And, why did it take such a long time for Elle to realize Zana was in Flynn's body? Well, this book was decent, anyway. I just hope it won't take very long for the next book to be released. By the way, I think I spotted an error or two.

"A well worn mixtape, a stolen convertible, a duffel bag full of cash, a fully loaded .45, and super-powers. 17 and on the run is the only way to see America right." Navigating the halls of high school is never easy. And for teenage outcast Duncan and popular girl Madison things are even harder. They share a secret -- they can do things other people can't. But their abilities and need for secrecy take them down a dangerous path. After making a terrible and deadly mistake they are left with no choice. They have to leave and never come back. A blend of crime road stories like True Romance & Badlands, coming of age tales like Pretty In Pink & Ghost World, and "outcast kids against the world" books like Runaways & Deadly Class, We Can Never Go Home is a new chance to fall in love with the doomed misfits and the dreamers who set off to find something bigger. We Can Never Go Home is the debut creator-owned book from writers Matthew Rosenberg (12 Reasons To Die / co-writer on Ghostface Killah's new LP 36 Seasons), Patrick Kindlon (hit webcomic Menu / upcoming OGN The Urn), and artist Josh Hood (JLA: Scary Monsters, Venom).

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Very good, but too short By Kindle Customer I'm really enjoying this series: quirky characters with a different POV, story arc that makes me want to keep reading, sharp artwork that moves with the story and enhances character development. The only quibble I have (and why I docked one star) is the piddly way the story is doled out. Very short chapters, $3.99 each. By the time I get all of the book, it'll be a $60 investment. As much as I like it, I don't see myself going for more than three or four; makes me sad.

So so fun By JSB As I've reviewed before we love the Teen Titans something fierce in our house and we have been giggling our butts off over these comics. The nicest thing for me (other than the characters, humor, nutty plots, etc.) is that having these comics for the Kindle has made my first grader actually interested in using his Kindle app more and more. The price is awesome, too.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Hawkeye and Deadpool Buddy Cop Mini-Series By S. H. Wells Collecting: Hawkeye vs Deadpool #0-4Hawkeye vs Deadpool collects an entertaining story of a reluctant team up story. In the tradition of buddy cop flicks like Turner and Hooch Deadpool plays the Hooch to Hawkeye's straight man with Kate Bishop as the unlikely team has to prevent vital SHIELD data from falling into the hands of a scheming Black Cat.Black Cat has teamed with a pyro-kinetic named Typhoid Mary and crazy doctor with a penchant for brainwashing people. A brainwashed Hawkeye is the catalyst for the "vs" in this book. The battle is pretty humorous with Deadpool and Hawkeye chasing Hawkeye through the streets of Manhattan by foot, rickshaw, and even Uber car. This book is relatively lighthearted fare, but it was a completely enjoyable read.

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. ReadingBifrost: an amusing addition to the Marvel universe that fans are bound to enjoy By Reading Bifrost “Don’t you just hate chases where you can’t just shoot the people you’re chasing!?”This is completely NOT a “vs.” comic, but I couldn’t help but love it despite being fooled by the title. By the cover and the blurb the reader expects and full out brawl between our Marvel archer and undying anti-hero, but in reality it’s a bunch of (hilarious) bickering and Deadpool stepping in to save a brainwashed Hawkeye.Putting that bit aside, Duggan borrowed Matt Fraction’s Clint Barton and Kate Bishop- which works just fine to keep the Marvel ‘verses together. Deadpool even gets confused when Hawkeye’s dog gets his standard panels. The three battle against Black Cat who stole confidential information- not a very thick plot- but I think this comic centers more or less around the comedy aspect as Hawkeye and Deadpool are making snark comments about Black Cat and Spiderman throughout (*snicker*), and Deadpool eventually ends up in the classic Hawkeye costume.Overall, Hawkeye vs Deadpool is an amusing addition to the Marvel universe that fans are bound to enjoy.www.ReadingBifrost.com

This is an absolutely blank 32 page comic book. The cover is pretty much blank. I suggest drawing and then gluing the cover image on the front. You can also scan a drawing and print it out on a full page sticker. Inside, there is only a simple frame at 6.675x10.25 inches, the standard comic book size to draw in, and a page number. NOTE: I highly suggest using my other book, Make Your Own Comic Book, which has over 100 page templates and design layouts to help you make this book!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Blank comic book ready for your creations! By Henry Honoret This book was great. I needed something that was put together, but didn't limit me to their comic strip templates. Each page is blank, minus a thin black border and a page number. The girlfriend and I decided to make each other gifts this year, so I had the idea of making her a comic book with some funny comic strips and stories of memories we've shared together. The book is well built, sturdy for a paperback. The front and back cover are really good quality and the quality is consistent throughout the entire 32-page book. My only gripe with this book is the giant text on the side of the front and back cover that says, as seen in the picture, "Blank Comic Book". I really wish that wasn't there. The only way to cover this is by gluing another page to the cover. I decided to use regular printer paper for the cover and then used a single sided laminating sheet to protect it. I left the back cover as is, since I bought a display case for the comic and the back cover won't be seen anyway. Front and back cover aside, this is a really great start to your very own comic book.

Drew Smith’s Oyster: A Gastronomic History offers readers a global view of the oyster, tracing its role in cooking, art, literature, and politics from the dawn of time to the present day. Oysters have inspired chefs, painters, and writers alike, have sustained communities financially and ecologically, and have loomed large in legend and history. Using the oyster as the central theme, Smith has organized the book around time periods and geographical locations, looking at the oyster’s influence through colorful anecdotes, eye-opening scientific facts, and a wide array of visuals. The book also includes fifty recipes—traditional country dishes and contemporary examples from some of the best restaurants in the world. Renowned French chef Raymond Blanc calls Oyster “a brilliant crusade for the oyster that shows how food has shaped our history, art, literature, law-making, culture, and of course love-making and cuisine.”

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Now, if you're ready, Oysters dear, we can begin to feed By Martha Jones This book discusses the history of the oyster and the history of man and the oyster. All of the varieties are discussed as to size, flavor, and resistance to disease. Also discussed is mans blundering choice to create sewage outflows from cities that nearly always poisoned the best oyster beds in the area. Humankind did this in Europe and then again in the new world. New York City was known as the big oyster before it was the big apple and city run off destroyed the oyster beds once again. This book does have a variety of recipies starting with Roman , then medieval texts and European , American and Asian influences. The recipies are not extensive but do feature all of the most common ways to prepare the oyster. Oyster Rockefeller, Carolina corn and oyster dressing and beer battered oysters with caper mayonnaise are examples. Instruction on how to open the oyster, plus confirmation of the oyster actually being able to influence libido, as well as child labor used in preparing oysters and the oyster being a "canary" warning system for the healthy ecology of the sea,are features of this text. I would describe this book as a world history book on oysters with recipes. Even Charles Darwin started his career studying the oyster. Those who like history, science, literature, and good food will enjoy this book.

Leopold Classic Library is delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive collection. As part of our on-going commitment to delivering value to the reader, we have also provided you with a link to a website, where you may download a digital version of this work for free. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. Whilst the books in this collection have not been hand curated, an aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature. As a result of this book being first published many decades ago, it may have occasional imperfections. These imperfections may include poor picture quality, blurred or missing text. While some of these imperfections may have appeared in the original work, others may have resulted from the scanning process that has been applied. However, our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. While some publishers have applied optical character recognition (OCR), this approach has its own drawbacks, which include formatting errors, misspelt words, or the presence of inappropriate characters. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with an experience that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic book, and that the occasional imperfection that it might contain will not detract from the experience.

Thorsson In "The Man with the Clubfoot," Valentine Williams has written a thriller of mystery, love and intrigue, that in every sense of the word may be described as a roller coaster - written at a time when German was the country of villains, (remember when it was the USSR? now its the Taliban...), and the Kaiser is the bad guy...by adult son read this in one or two sittings.Williams was the Robert Ludlum of his time,...one heroic man, or a small group of crusading individuals, in a struggle against powerful adversaries whose intentions and motivations are evil, adversaries capable of using political and economic mechanisms in frightening ways - this is the story of The Man With the Clubfoot!A great read!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Mostly pretty charming By Douglas J. Bassett Pretty much the best Buchan novel John Buchan never wrote -- it certainly owes a great deal to John Buchan's work. Protagonist's brother works for British intelligence and disappears behind German lines in WW 1. Protagonist, through one of those improbable coincidences that only seem to arise in books like this, gains the opportunity to get into Germany and search for him personally. And then a bunch of stuff happens. It has it's faults. A lot of the very early thriller writers were still learning how to write the genre, and you can see that in this book -- Williams does some odd things that seem counter-productive to his story. I think he just didn't know any better. So, while I can go along with the coincidence that starts everything rolling there's another, major coincidence in here that functions as a deus ex machine for the characters and is just silly beyond belief. Williams breaks out his pov at the climax, which accomplishes nothing I can see and dissipates a lot of the narrative energy we'd been building toward. The climax happens too early, starts out strong but peters out unsatisfyingly, and we've still got a second, lesser climax to get through until the end.All that said, this is a charming book, and for much of it's run is frankly better than a lot of the Buchan it was obviously inspired by. The lead character is charming, and I think reacts more or less appropriately, given his situation. He's certainly no superman, there are convincing passages where he's too tired to think straight, or stuck with little options and has to make a bad decision, etc. I liked the villain very much, and can't help but wonder if Hammett didn't read this at some point before writing THE MALTESE FALCON.If the end of the book had been better written I would've called this a flat out classic, full stop. It's not quite that, like a lot of genre efforts from this period there are basic structural problems that stop it from being top-rank. It is quite good, though, recommended.

From the Author I've been displaying my work on the web since the late 90s and since then one question visitors to my website or people in general would always ask me is "How do you colour your artwork?"I felt that a lot of books on the market as well as free online tutorials just weren't sufficient at delivering an in-depth guide to the artist's working process and how to make best use of the latest Photoshop software and so decided to create my own manual which would answer that question.Digital Manga is the result! It details every little trick I've learned and implemented over the last dozen years of using Photoshop by demonstrating a practical use on character art.

The T-64 tank was the most revolutionary design of the whole Cold War, designed to provide the firepower and armor protection of a heavy tank in a medium-weight design. It pioneered a host of sophisticated new technologies including laminate armor, stereoscopic tank rangefinders, opposed-piston engines, smooth-bore tank guns with discarding sabot ammunition, and gun-fired guided projectiles. These impressive features meant that the Russians were loath to part with the secrets of the design, and the T-64 was the only Soviet tank type of the Cold War that was never exported.

Written by an armor expert, this detailed technical history sheds light on the secrets behind the Cold War's most controversial tank, revealing how its highly advanced technologies proved to be both a blessing and a curse.

Another quality book from Steven Zaloga By TankandAFVNews People familiar with Osprey's New Vanguard series and with Steven Zaloga will know exactly what to expect from this title; a well written, well researched book with quality photos and illustrations. Mr. Zaloga also wrote the New Vanguard series books on the Soviet T-62, T-72 and T-80, so this volume completes the set nicely. That the T-64 is the last of the Soviet Cold War MBT's to get it's own New Vanguard book is indicative of how this vehicle has been overshadowed by its more well known stablemates. Ironically, the T-64 was perhaps the most important of the Cold War Soviet designs, setting the template for all the Soviet tanks that followed. Zaloga does a very nice job in describing the internal politics that led to the development of the T-64, a tale with more than a few characters and plot twists. It is perhaps appropriate that this book came out now, as it's only been in the last year that the T-64 has seen combat, being used extensively in the fighting in Ukraine. If you are looking for something on the T-64, there are not many options out there. Fortunately, this volume fills the niche quite nicely.

A Forczyk As usual, armor expert Steven Zaloga provides a wealth of useful information and analysis in T-64: The Cold War’s Most Secret Tank. Indeed, I wish I had this volume 30 years ago when I was an American tanker and we knew very little about the difference between a T64 and a T-72. In this volume, Mr. Zaloga shows how the Soviet quest for a new, advanced tank in the early 1950s was subverted by interference from Nikita Khrushchev, who endorsed full-scale production of the T-64 prototype before all the bugs were worked out – the Russian Army has been paying the consequences for this mistake for decades. Mr Zaloga assesses that the T-64, which influenced the later T-72 and T-80 tanks, saddled the Soviets with a tank that was simply too small to compete effectively with its Western adversaries. There is little doubt that the small turret, half of which is occupied by the autoloader, is sub-optimal. I’ve been inside the T-72 turret and found it too cramped and believe it would quickly undermine creweffectiveness.Mr. Zaloga also describes the in-fighting between the Soviet tank design bureaus in Kharkov, Nizhniy Tagil and Leningrad, which led to the concurrent development of three different tanks. The T-64 tank itself was a problem child, plagued with engine defects and a variety of other issues. Although the author mentioned problems with the air filters, it is never really clear what was causing T-64 engines to fail so quickly. The T-64’s transmission is not mentioned, but I suspect that this component may also have been problematic. When I went through Foreign Vehicle training at Aberdeen, I was surprised by the T-72’s poor design in terms of operator maintenance; unlike Western military vehicles, simple tasks like checking oil levels were difficult due to the design. Given the T-64’s low operational readiness in the 1970s, I suspect that operator level maintenance was not up to snuff.Overall, the volume is one of the best New Vanguards that I have read in the last year or so and boasts excellent graphical quality and information. An excellent volume.

Isby A new Zaloga book on Soviet/Russian AFVs is always a good thing, and this monograph is no exception. It represents a highly informed distillation of all that is known (that still includes a lot of mis-information and the writings of “Viktor Suvorov”) about this tank since it first emerged from the Cold War mists in the late 1960s.The extensive Russian-language sources – including technical manuals -- make heavy use of memoir literature from the former Soviet military-industrial complex. Collated together, these provide something that the West could only guess at back in the Cold War, how the T-64 emerged, was used, and how it worked. It also presents a guide to how Russia tried to meet the challenge of adopting the new (but pre-microchip revolution) technologies of the latter Cold War to a main battle tank program that had been seen worldwide as an example of consistent incremental development (though we now know the true story was much more complex). The T-64 is still a combat system in the conflicts around Ukraine’s peripheries. The Armata, the first post-Soviet tank design, is still a long way from operationally effective. This monograph has value for understanding today’s real or potential conflicts as well as the balance of forces that loomed so large in the Cold War.
