Feminist horror By Alt Courtney Bow is killed in a car crash but her boobs are uninjured and her face isn't bad so Vincent Krall stitches her up and brings her back to life with the usual machinery of Frankenstein movies. The reanimated woman doesn't have many intact memories -- she says things like "Harrrrr" -- but Vincent is a morphine-addicted sub-genius so they are a perfect match until Courtney's brain cells start to work again. Vincent teaches Courtney to be ladylike, which includes useful instructions like "when a man, especially me, speaks to you, you must pay attention and show interest." To teach her how to be a woman, he takes her to see belly dancers. You can understand why Courtney might not be so thrilled with her reeducation.Vincent has a bug up his butt about a guy named Henry whose father more-or-less raised Vincent, much to Henry's displeasure. Vincent's schooling was cut short when Henry's father died, leaving Henry the winner in their rivalry. Of course, the rivalry included the dead woman who is now reanimated.Naturally, once the reanimated woman learns to talk, she also learns to complain. And she learns to be jealous. Not really what Vincent had in mind. He eventually regrets giving her the ability to speak. Well, that's not surprising now, is it?Actually, Vincent is quite the jerk, just like every other male in the story, which leaves Madame Frankenstein as the only character worth rooting for. I was willing to do that because the story is a surprisingly effective blend of traditional horror and a modern take on the role of women in society.Notwithstanding my appreciation of the feminist motif, I also appreciated Madame Frankenstein's boobs, although they, like the belly dancers, are too rarely on display to make them reason enough to recommend the story. Somehow fairies make an appearance for reasons I still can't fathom. The fairies are a serious misstep and I wasn't thrilled with the ending but I liked the overall effort enough to guardedly recommend it.

By Wayne A McCoy 'Madame Frankenstein' riffs on a familiar tale, adds some pretty great art, and combines to make a pretty good tale.Vincent Krull is a washed up student. He wants revenge on his rival Henry who got him kicked out of school. Henry's recent gorgeous date, Courtney Bow, has ended up dead, and Vincent's plan is to bring her back to life and make her fall in love with Vincent. He's found all the parts he needs and with his lab assistant Irene, they achieve the impossible. Courtney's first days as a reanimated being are filled with learning. Vincent is determined to raise a good little subservient woman. His plans seem to be going well until he falls for a woman in a burlesque show. Meanwhile, Henry is on Vincent's trail and threatens to expose what he's done. Will Clara be jealous? Will Henry discover the macabre crime? Will Vincent's ego get the better of him?Of course it will! Vincent is the classic egotistical scientist. We never find out why his assistant Irene puts up with him. Poor Courtney is the hapless, jilted creature. It's all written very well, like the best B-movie, and Megan Levens illustrations are ghoulishly wonderful. Joelle Jones does a great job on the covers. It was all a fun read, and I enjoyed it.I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Diamond Book Distributors, Image Comics, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

He will soon learn that you should never bring something dead back to life and a woman is not easy to control as he thinks. Soon problems arise when he meets another women and a man he grew up with starts to figure out that Vincent his hiding something. The story was interesting and the covers for every issue was gorgeous.Vincent brings Courtney Bow back from the dead. But as he teachers her everything that it takes to be a woman we also learn that he isn't the hero of the story, the man who lost the women he loved. He will soon show his right colors and the story takes a more sinister tone. The problem I had was that the art had a children's color book feeling over it. Courtney Bow was the only exception (and also some of the other women), she was drawn really beautiful. But the men was not as beautifully drawn they felt very crude in comparison. The art was just not captivating, the story felt grown up, but the art felt liked it was aimed for children.Thankfully I read it on my Ipad or I may just have started to look for some crayons...
