It is a page turner that drives you to find out more about these mysterious catacombs. It was so intriguing to learn about the secret events that took place in the heart of Massachusetts, a place that was so involved with the development of our country. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to read about the spicy side of history.

By Amazon Customer Having known Mr Longeway since college, I find his book a testament to his perseverance. We discussed the subject of Worcester's catacombs as far back as 1973 and I remember the phrase "I should write a book" coming up in conversation several times. His never-ending research has led to a fascinating look into this "hard to believe" tale of mystery and possibilities. One wonders why officials have never pursued delving into this intriguing feature of Worcester's past, a past so rich in U.S. history and folklore. I would recommend this book to anyone curious about the city, its background, its changes, or just a walk down a tunnel less travelled. A great read! Super job, Chuck!

Great read about old Worcester, MA By Amazon Customer Very strange and thought-provoking stuff....I too grew up in Worcester and was very intrigued by how much evidence there was of these as well as the lack of detail for their purposes way back when they were thought to be built... and the fragments of news clippings made the author's struggles apparent in locating what he needed. Thoroughly researched and presented. A must for anyone of the Worcester 20th century or just for those interested in unsolved mysteries!
